Buying tips
- High school (NFHS) rules require goalie chest protectors that meet the NOCSAE ND200 standard. Check for that label before buying.
- Goalies are also required to wear a throat guard; it attaches to the helmet.
- Goalie heads need a goalie-specific mesh and pocket. If you are new to the position, a strung goalie head or a complete goalie stick saves a stringing job.
- For a young or first-year goalie, mid-priced gloves and a chest protector usually make more sense than the top-end models.
